Announcement: Epic holiday incoming

copywriter on holiday in 2026

The last time I made a personal announcement it was to let folks know I was pregnant and pausing my business.

This announcement isn’t quite so massively life changing. But it does affect my business. And it has taken around nine months of planning. (So far.)

What’s going down?

From July until September, this copywriter is on holiday. I’m heading overseas with my family. My plan is to treat this as pure holiday—I won’t be opening of my laptop, all social media will be deleted from my phone, and I’ll find a way to keep myself locked out of my work email account.

I’m properly serious about taking this prolonged break as complete rest time and make lots of epic memories with my family and friends. Because it’s the last chance we’ll have for a while to do a long trip like this. My lad starts school next year and, as the parents amongst you will know, we’ll then be bound by school holiday schedules.

If you need a copywriter right now

I get it. It might not be practical to wait until October for the copy you need. You want to book a copywriter ASAP.

Lucky for you, I have an awesome network of copywriters who I’m happy to refer you to. They work across industries and disciplines, so whatever you’re looking for, I’m pretty sure I know someone who can help and (hopefully) has availability in the coming weeks or months.

So, you’re still very welcome to drop me a line. Just pop [REFERAL] in your message somewhere, along with a few details about your project and I’ll make sure you’re put in touch with the right person.

After July

I can offer this assistance until I leave in July. If you get in touch after that, you’ll get my out of office. But don’t panic yet. There are still places you can look to find the right writer for you.

There are several directories you can use as well as some not-so-obvious places where copywriters hang out.

If you need a copywriter that isn’t me then here are 4 places small business owners can find great copywriters.

But what if you were hoping to work with me soon?

Commitments to regular clients have filled up my time between now and when I leave. There’s no way I can leave them hanging, so I’ve been working to make sure they have all of the copy they need for now as well as the content they need for the months I’m away.

My books are currently closed to taking on brand new clients with brand new projects before I leave in July.

However, I’m very much available when I return so am currently taking bookings for October onwards.

If you’ve got a project in mind that you’d like my help with, drop me a line in the next month or two and I’ll schedule you in for when I’m back in October.

Let’s lock something in for October.

Wondering how I’m able to take such a long break?

Whether you’re a fellow copywriter or a curious client, you may be wondering:

  • how I’m able to take so long off work as a freelancer
  • how I’m preparing my business and clients for a three-month pause.

Running a freelance business comes with so many questions. And I’ve been at this for (almost) two decades. I’m happy to share what I know and how I do it.

It might not be the right way for you, but it may spark ideas that you find useful.

Here’s how I take holidays as a freelancer.
